How to Assemble Guardian Trench Shields Modular Box (Manhole)

People

You’ll need two people to assemble the modular box.

Equipment you will need:

• Guardian Modular Trench Shield Panels

• Corner brackets

• Lifting eye brackets

• Pins

• A 4-leg chain sling

• Machine with Lifting capabilities.

• Safety PPE; HI-vis, Safety Boots, Gloves

Total Assembly Time

Approx 15-20 minutes

Step-by-Step Assembly

1. Position the first panels

2. Install the corner bracket

3. Repeat till bottom 4 panels are connected into a box.

4. Build the second layer.

5. Secure the top

6. Install the lifting brackets

Once the manhole reaches the required panel height, attach the lifting brackets.

7. Lift into place

Use a machine to lift the assembled box into position.

You can complete the final assembly once the box is in place if required. Additional layers can be added to increase depth as needed.

Practical Tips from the Guardian Team

• Always check the holes align before inserting the pins.

• When installing corner brackets, insert the four bottom pins first.

• If you keep the fourth side lower than the other sides initially, you won’t need a ladder for access.

• The smaller the manhole, the greater depth you can dig, as smaller panels have higher KPAs.

Spare pins are available from Guardian if any are lost or damaged.
