The system includes a clamp foot and a three-piece arm equipped with two winches: one for personnel recovery and one for materials. Both winches feature 18m to 24m wire ropes, as well as self-locking and triple-action hooks for safe lifting and lowering. An adaptor bracket secures the winch to the davit arm, and the entire system is supplied in a convenient storage bag.

What does the recovery winch do?
In the event of a fall from a ladder, the recovery winch will automatically arrest the descent.
This system ensures that injured or incapacitated personnel can be safely lifted to safety, providing vital protection and certainty during emergencies. The winch supports a maximum working load of 136kg, which includes the individual’s weight along with all clothing, tools, and equipment connected to the HRA/Winch unit. Additionally, the kit features an integrated weight-warning system; if the arm becomes overloaded, internal ‘weight wicks’ will snap sequentially.
This produces an audible warning that alerts the operator to the overload condition immediately.
What does a davit adaptor do?
The adaptor is to securely connect the winches onto the davit arm.
What does the materials winch do?
The materials winch allows safe delivery of tools and other necessary equipment to people working in a manhole or at depth.
What is the purpose of the bracket davit base?
This bracket connects the davit arm to shields and features a 20-200mm clamp for connection to all suitable equipment, such as trench shields. While permanent brackets are available, we do not supply them for hire purposes. These brackets can be easily clamped to any 20-200mm trench shield.
What are safety considerations around use?
Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) should always be used during davit installation, operation and any maintenance of the equipment. Always wear gloves and beware of pinch points during installation and operation.
How easy is it to assemble?
The Pro-6G Davit Arm can be quickly and easily assembled by one, (or two), suitably trained people. No special tools required for assembly or disassembly – the davit arm parts all clip together, the winches are pinned in, and base is simply clamped to the trench shield.
What are the davit kits made from?
The davits are manufactured from aviation-industry, high-strength, yet lightweight, 6061-T6 aluminum. This material provides significant strength-to-weight advantages when working in challenging environments.
What are the kit’s dimensions?
Ideal for confined space entry, the davit has a height of 1.96 – 2.79m and an offset of 0.5 to 0.7m. The PRO-6G davit arm itself (the upper mast and jib assembly) weighs approximately 22.6 kg. The weight of the full kit is dependent on the choice of base and other accessories. Kits are modular and can be customised for a particular site or need.
When not in use, kits can be dismantled and stored in handy carry cases ready for the next deployment.
Can both winches be used at once?
The materials winch and the personal winch that fit to the davit arm are not designed to be used at the same time.
Can davit arms be hired?
Depending on a company’s needs, the kits can be purchased or hired.
What is the certification of the product?
The product has been tested to: AS/NZS5532:2013, AS/NZS1891.4:2009
and AS 1418.2 AS/NZS, 5532:2013 sets the testing and manufacturing requirements for single-point anchor devices used in fall-arrest systems — it tells you how strong anchors must be and how they’re tested, but not how to design or install a full system.
AS/NZS 1891.4:2009 covers how fall-arrest gear (harnesses, lanyards, anchor points, static lines, etc.) must be selected, used, inspected and maintained to keep workers safe at height.
AS 1418.2 deals with the safety, design and testing requirements for hoists and winches — making sure lifting equipment is built correctly, rated accurately and safe to operate. Davit arm kits need to be recertified every year or after activation. (TransQuip can help recommending someone to do this.)
